Brookhaven allocates funds for safety projects in Ashford Park neighborhood

Brookhaven City Council members passed resolutions at the May meeting to continue improving the safety of Ashford Park neighborhood s paths and roads Council members unanimously voted to pay to acquire a -square-foot temporary construction easement at Caldwell Rd which will complete the Caldwell-Redding intersection improvement project The project has been in the design phase since early A memo from the city stated that as the design phase nears its end the city s Right-of-Way Agent Johnson Mirmiran Thompson JMT has been working with individual project stakeholders to reach mutually agreed-upon prices via appraisals for the necessary easements Lighting will be added to the Ashford Park pedestrian path between Pamela Drive at Cravenridge Drive and Parkridge Drive The city is entering a system agreement with Georgia Power for an initial cost of and monthly cost that breaks down to per year District Council Member Jennifer Owens explained residents have been asking for safety improvements This was one of the recommendations from a committee that we pulled together with city staff parents and elected personnel This is just another step in our ongoing commitment to make it safer to move around Ashford Park Elementary Owens noted Council members also passed an ordinance to appropriate for consulting services for a lot at Clairmont Road which the city took over from an automotive dealer as well as four parcel assemblages at the Windsor-Osborne Intersection We are inevitably looking to do innovative things in Brookhaven We are looking at parcels that are potentially going to be developed and generating ideas and generating new procedures of building community-based and quite frankly not just your typical housing We re putting skin in the encounter Brookhaven Mayor John Park announced In other news A new soccer field will open on the Peachtree Creek Greenway with a ribbon cutting on Monday May at p m adjacent to Inhabitants Safety building Larry Williams was reappointed to the Brookhaven Advancement Authority The post Brookhaven allocates funds for safety projects in Ashford Park neighborhood appeared first on Rough Draft Atlanta
